The following is information about 2018 dog licenses from Town Clerk Tim Arsenault. If you have questions, call the Town Clerk’s office at 257-0292.
Dog licenses for the year 2018 are ready to be issued. According to Vermont law, all dogs 6 months old and older must be registered with the Town on or before April 1 of every year. (Some have thought that once a dog is registered it doesn’t have to be done again, but the law is every year.) If your dog becomes 6 months of age after April 1, you STILL need to register the animal.
Renewal forms are being mailed in early January to holders of 2017 dog licenses. If you do not wish to come into the office you may sign the license at the yellow “X” and mail it to the Town Clerk with the appropriate fee ($13 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered and $9 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered) and the clerk will process your license(s) and return it (them) along with this year’s dog tag.
If your dog requires a rabies shot we are unable to license that animal UNTIL the dog receives the required shot and the original rabies certificate is presented to us.
At this time, it looks as though we will not be having a rabies clinic in town this year. If that changes, we will post the info on Vernonvermont.org and on the Vernon Facebook group . We will also alert you to other towns rabies clinics and remind you that Tractor Supply in Hinsdale does a rabies clinic one Sunday per month, as follows:
- Sunday January 7, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm
- Sunday February 4, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm
- Sunday March 4, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm
IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE YOUR DOG(S) PLEASE CONTACT US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE MAY CORRECT OUR RECORDS.
