The Vernon Planning Commission will hold a public meeting to inform Vernon residents about the possibility of constructing a gas-powered electric generating plant in the vicinity of the VELCO/VY switchyard, adjoining Vermont Yankee.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Vernon Elementary School cafeteria. The Planning Commission will make a presentation including details about the proposal, and will be seeking input from residents about the advisability of proceeding.

The plant would be supplied with natural gas via a spur to be constructed from the proposed Kinder-Morgan Northeast Energy Direct pipeline, which is planned to run through Northfield, MA into southern New Hampshire.
