A variety of offices in Vernon are up for election in the March town meeting elections. You can still pick up a petition, gather the necessary signatures of 1 percent of the registered voters (19 minimum), and get on the ballot. Here is the status, according to Town Clerk Tim Arsenault, of petitions taken out so far:

  • Select board 3 year — Kristina Walker
  • Select board 3 year — Jessica Freeman Earp
  • Select board 2 year  —Jeff Dunklee, petitions are in
  • School board 3 year — Deb Hebert
  • School board 2 year — Kerry Amidon. petitions are in
  • School board 1 year — Sandy Morrison, petitions are in
  • First Constable — Peter Crossman, petitions are in
  • Second Constable — Scott Lane, petitions are in
  • Lister 3 year — Jeremiah Sund, petitions are in
  • Delinquent Tax Collector — Marylynn Scherlin
  • Town and Town School Moderator — Tim Arsenault, petitions are in
  • Town Agent — no one has filed
  • Grand Juror — no one has filed

The petition deadline is 5 p.m. on Monday, January 30. One percent of the registered voters must sign your petition.
