Hello world, this website is all about Vernon, the south-easternmost town in Vermont, and “the gateway to Southeastern Vermont.”

Not official, at all: This site is run by volunteers and not by the Town of Vernon. We would like to stress that, as it says on every page, this site is not the official Town of Vernon website, which was taken offline in 2014. Therefore, NOTHING posted on this site serves as an official Town of Vernon communication. Notices of meetings posted here do NOT constitute legal warnings nor does anything else on this site fulfill ANY legal requirements.

Financial transparency: Our finances are fully transparent: nobody is being paid; we just have a few costs for site hosting, URL registration, and software, which are covered by our advertising income. We keep track of our modest finances on this spreadsheet, so if you are interested, you can see where the money comes from and where it goes. If you’d like to make a contribution, be in touch!

Sponsorship info: If you have a business and want to support this site through sponsorship at just $65 for 12 months, please be in touch. Sponsors receive an ad in our right-hand sidebar, and the ads appear also on the monthly Vernon Community News email newsletter. The site receives an average of 1,100 unique visitors per month, with all ads shown on every page, and the newsletter goes to about 400 recipients. Ads include a hyperlink to your website, and will be rotated from time to time so that the top position is shared more or less equitably. Ads should be submitted in JPG format, 240 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

This website is run by volunteers, and you can help! We can use people who want to:

  • Report on town meetings and events
  • Help post agendas, warnings and meeting minutes
  • Keep our directory pages up-to-date and complete
  • Maintain listings in our calendar of events
  • Help out on the tech side of the website

We request town boards and committees to send us minutes, agendas and warnings for posting on this site, and we invite clubs, organizations and businesses to send us news and event information.
